Business & Industry Coordinator – Workforce Development Division of Outreach and Engagement, College of Extended Studies

PROFESSIONAL STAFF REPORTS TO: AVP, Outreach & Engagement

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Design, develop, and implement outreach strategies and programs designed to expand program offerings to Business and Industry stakeholders for Vincennes University.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Business and Industry Coordinator will be responsible for relationship building and forging partnerships with business and industry stakeholders throughout Indiana. The position requires a commitment to continuous learning about VU programs, and an ability to communicate information to stakeholders The incumbent must be well versed in all academic options, learning opportunities, and services and will be able to direct inquiries for the most appropriate workforce training program.

  • Collaborate with team members to develop operational strategies for Business and Industry programs.
  • Research and identify potential new opportunities and outreach initiatives in target areas.
  • Provide efficient and consistent student service/advisement tracking by maximizing computer systems such as GSuite, MS Office, Banner, ACEware, and Slate. (Training is provided.)
  • Organize and maintain financial spreadsheets (MS Excel) for Business and Industry Training Programs.
  • Contact and develop working relationships with stakeholders, such as regional economic development boards, committees, and other partner organizations.
  • Organize and facilitate grant opportunities for Business and Industry programs.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the University's degree requirements and general education requirements, university and student policies, and procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between program chairs and advisors of training and programming taught within the Business and Industry division.
  • Survey marketplace for new and existing academic programs, competitive marketing plans, strategies, and job outlooks.
  • Design, develop, and implement effective plans for recruiting students and training for industry partners.
  • Create and deliver formal presentations on Business and Industry programs.
  • Analyze program outcomes and recommend action to the leadership team.
  • Write training agreements and contracts for new training partnerships.
  • Serve as point of contact for noncredit and employer training programs for the State of Indiana.
  • Prepare course schedule consistent with student needs, faculty availability, and economic necessity.
  • Travel extensively throughout the State of Indiana as required to perform duties.
  • Represent the Business and Industry Program at education fairs, conferences, etc.
  • All other duties as necessary to manage the outreach function efficiently and beneficially.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: College level appropriate for the academic advising, recruitment, and coordination of Business and Industry Training.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient with Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PPT), Adobe Acrobat, and Google Drive.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Skills appropriate to administer budgets, forecast needs, and generate reports effectively.

REASONING SKILLS: Strong problem-solving skills.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Excellent oral & written communication skills. Friendly, outgoing, respectful attitude.

POSITION LOCATION: Vincennes University, Vincennes, Indiana, or Vincennes University Jasper Campus, Jasper, Indiana.

Requirements

EDUCATION: Associate's degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Proven success and experience in college advising, workforce development, or program operations

  • Knowledge of corporate and business and industry training programs is
  • Experience with educational programming and familiarity with adult learner education is
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Academic advising
    • Continuing education
    • Workforce training
    • Enrollment management/outreach for nontraditional student populations
  • Strong work ethic, able to meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to maintain orderly work environment, overall excellent organizational
  • Well- modulated voice, neat & clean in
