The Medical and Health Professions Education (MHPE) graduate programs at Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University is seeking adjunct assistant or associate professors to train students interested in becoming health professions education leaders. Students who enroll in the MHPE programs are health care professionals who engage in transformational learning that connects their experiences, coursework, and knowledge to inform their teaching, research, and professional practice. Courses are offered in an online, asynchronous format and include three core content areas: teaching & learning, educational research & scholarship, and concentration courses in:
Contemporary human anatomy education
Higher education
Simulation education
Adjunct Assistant Professors are responsible for developing and teaching course/s in the MHPE Program. This position works remotely with required authorization in accordance with the VHS/ODU Telework policy.

Requirements
Responsibilities
Develop and manage syllabus and online course materials as part of a multi-disciplinary curriculum planning team and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Coordinate online curriculum with Program Director and faculty by reviewing any textbook and other course material changes.
Facilitate online class instruction and interact with students via online tools. Responsible for teaching the assigned course in accordance with learning objectives specified by the MHPE program.
Respond promptly to all student inquiries regarding course content within the guidelines established by the MHPE program and as outline in the syllabus.
Evaluate and provide feedback on ongoing student performance and award grades according to established guidelines and timelines.
Respond promptly to questions about grade determination and follow all policies and procedures related to grade challenges.
Submit an electronic copy to the Program Director of pertinent course records not maintained in the course Blackboard site (i.e., student file notes documenting areas of concern, assignments in dispute).
Attend faculty meetings and respond to communication from the director promptly.
Comply with any required EVMS faculty training related to teaching in the online environment.
Read and adhere to all EVMS Policies and Procedures
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Terminal degree in education or health professions minimum, doctorate preferred (in field or closely related).
Teaching Experience: Experience teaching in an online environment at the undergraduate or graduate level. Proof of acceptable teaching evaluations. Candidates must have the communication, organization, and mentoring skills needed to be a successful instructor, mentor, and advisor.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to candidates who have prior online, asynchronous teaching experience at the graduate level. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching coursework related to the MHPE course curriculum. Preference will be given to candidates with experience guiding student research projects.
Conditions of Employment: This is a part-time position focused on remote, online, asynchronous teaching.
