Description
CityU is the first University in the region to offer a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM), with the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University as our international partner. The 6-year BVM, established in 2017, has received provisional accreditation from the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council Inc (AVBC).
The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) was established in 2020 in the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) at CityU. The Department has a clear vision to be Asia’s preeminent body advancing veterinary clinical science in response to evolving societal needs. Our strategic goals include attracting world-class clinical faculty to secure full accreditation of the BVM with AVBC and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), establishing Hong Kong’s first academic post-graduate veterinary residency-training programmes, establishing an outstanding clinical research environment to deliver outcomes that benefit all species, and fostering strong community engagement through excellent clinical service and outreach.
The positions will be appointed on the clinical track or tenure track.
Duties
The appointee will actively contribute to the missions of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences to train highly professional veterinary clinicians, to advance animal health through cutting-edge clinical research and to engage with and support the local community. The appointee will teach across the BVM curriculum according to his/her skill set to ensure that students can attain Day 1 competence in veterinary clinical skills. The appointee will help to provide practical guidance on learning, teaching, and assessing essential clinical skills, techniques, and procedures in both educational and workplace environments; and take up administrative work and other duties to facilitate the development of the College and its Departments as a whole. Active involvement in research is expected.
Requirements
The appointee shall possess a veterinary qualification recognized for registration as a veterinary surgeon in Hong Kong with degrees in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc), or equivalent in all levels of appointments.
