Location: Albany, NY Category: Faculty Posted On: Fri Jun 20 2025 Job Description:The Department of Economics at the University at Albany, SUNY, invites applications for a full-time, ten-month, non-tenure-track position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2025-2026 academic year. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to mutual agreement, availability of funds, continued need, and satisfactory performance.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach three courses per semester, in addition to contributing to departmental service. Teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, large sections of Principles of Macroeconomics and Principles of Microeconomics.
A Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field must be completed by the start date of the appointment. Candidates should provide clear evidence of effective teaching in relevant subject areas.
Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the time the appointment begins and for the duration of the appointment. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Strong communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to high-quality instruction are required.
Applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis and will continue until the position is filled.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teaching three courses per semester (9 credit hours)
- Department, College, and University Service and other reasonable duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching undergraduate economics courses, particularly in introductory macroeconomics and microeconomics.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience teaching Principles of Macroeconomics and/or Principles of Microeconomics at the undergraduate level.
- Experience teaching large-enrollment (150-200 student) courses or courses with diverse student populations.
- Experience with student advising or mentoring.

Additional Information:
Professional Rank and Salary Range: Visiting Assistant Professor (10 months), $70,000
