An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or similar) at the time of employment with a specialization in Qualitative Methods, Evaluation, or a closely related field.
Position Summary
The Qualitative Research Program in the Department of Lifelong Education, Administration, and Policy at the University of Georgia invites applications for the position of tenure track Assistant Professor with expertise in Qualitative Research and/or Evaluation Methodologies to begin in August 2026.
Additional Requirements
- Evidence of promise of moving towards a strong record of scholarly research that advances methodology in the fields of qualitative research and/or evaluation. This includes an active record of scholarship and productivity in terms of peer-reviewed publications in academic journals and professional presentations commensurate with experience.
- Evidence or strong potential for seeking and attracting external funding. Evidence of potential may include success with small-scale proposals, training/preparation relative to seeking external funds, and research in novel and high-interest areas for funding sources.
- Evidence or the promise of teaching graduate courses and mentoring students, either as an instructor of record or as a teaching assistant. Evidence may include a record of presentations and training, course evaluations, informal mentoring in terms of working with others on projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

- Contribute to the development and delivery of coursework for on-campus courses, as well as the online Graduate Certificate in Interdisciplinary Qualitative Studies.
- Teach the equivalent of two graduate-level courses per semester.
- Maintain an active research agenda.
- Demonstrate effectiveness in teaching and advising, and mentor students in the Ph.D. degree in Qualitative Research and Evaluation Methodologies, as well as serve as methodologist on doctoral committees throughout the University.
- Actively seek external funding.
- Participate in faculty governance and professional service.
