Title: Assistant Professor of Engineering
Position Type: Faculty Full-Time
Position Summary
Elon University invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Engineering beginning in mid-August 2026. The successful candidate will support the existing BS in Engineering with mechanical, biomedical, environmental, and computing concentrations. This position has an emphasis on creating an engaging first-year student experience including teaching and coordinating the first-year course sequence, mentoring Engineering Fellows, and building an inclusive and welcoming student environment. Potential for excellence in teaching lower-level undergraduate engineering courses is essential, as is integrating undergraduate students into a research agenda, advising and mentoring students, and contributing to the growth of the engineering program. Responsibilities include teaching a range of engineering courses as well as non-major courses for Elon’s Core Curriculum. Both an undergraduate degree in engineering and a PhD in engineering or related discipline are required. ABD candidates will be considered with completion by the starting date. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people are encouraged to identify their experiences in contributing to a climate of inclusivity in their cover letters. Requirements
Undergraduate Engineering degree and PhD in Engineering or closely related field
Experience mentoring undergraduate research. Experience teaching at the undergraduate level.
