Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, team-oriented Palliative Care Physician to join our multidisciplinary program. This position offers a balanced mix of inpatient consultation on the hospital service and outpatient care within our Palliative Oncology Clinic. We are looking for a clinician who thrives in a team model of care and is committed to excellence in patient- and family-centered communication, symptom management, and serious illness care planning.
Key responsibilities
- Provide expert inpatient palliative care consultations, including complex symptom management, goals-of-care discussions, and advance care planning.
- Deliver high-quality outpatient care in the Palliative Oncology Clinic in close collaboration with oncology and other specialties.
- Practice within an interprofessional, team-based model alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other team members.
- Engage in teaching and mentorship of learners (e.g., medical students, residents, fellows, and interprofessional trainees).
- Participate in quality improvement, program development, and collaborative research as interests align.
- Contribute to a culture of equity, inclusion, safety, and compassion.
Requirements
- MD or DO and eligibility for Maryland medical licensure.
- Board-certified physician; Hospice and Palliative Medicine board certification required.
- Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary, team-based care and outstanding communication skills.
- Experience and enthusiasm for education; willingness to teach and mentor learners is required.
- Comfort providing both inpatient and outpatient palliative care.
